At Altus Services, we have designed, built and supplied bespoke hardwood conservatories, orangeries, windows and doors for over 10 years.
Free quote and CAD drawings where applicable
Whether standard profiles or a unique bespoke window is required, Altus can meet your demands. All our windows are manufactured using traditional methods in tandem with modern technology. The result of this winning combination is a product which is both beautiful and strong.
Planning permission for conservatories
It is possible that your project will require some form of local authority approval. Our team are happy to advise with regard to planning matters and routinely consult local authority planning departments, building control officers and architects. Our team can do all of this on your behalf, if you so require.
Building regulations for conservatories
In general domestic conservatories are exempt under UK building regulations. We have listed below some of the exemptions requirements under building regulations 1991 (as amendments). These criteria must be met for a conservatory to be classified as exempt:
- Built at ground level
- Conservatories are less than 30 square metres in floor area
- At least 50% of area that will form the external boundary / edge of the conservatory must be glazed and 75% of the roof area to be covered with either glass or polycarbonate
- All conservatories must be separated from the house by an external quality door, patio door or French doors.
- Glazing and the electrical installation must comply with IEE and building regulations
Regardless of whether Full Building Regulations Approval is required, we follow the Best Building Practice Guidelines. At Altus Services we have a network of local installers and builders to help us complete your project. Over the years we have worked on many projects where the client has used their own builder or worked with either a local architect and/or main contractor — we are happy to work in whichever way suits your individual needs.
